Levels of service

The right vehicle for every patient

Every trip is matched to the patient’s mobility level — never a sedan for a stretcher patient, never an ambulance bill for a patient who can walk.

Ambulatory

For patients who can walk on their own or with minimal assistance, and ride in a standard vehicle seat.

  • Dialysis, therapy & follow-up visits
  • Door-to-door assistance
  • Standing orders for recurring care

Wheelchair

For patients who travel in their own wheelchair — including bariatric chairs — secured in a lift- or ramp-equipped van.

  • Lift & ramp vans, securement trained
  • Bariatric-capable vehicles
  • Discharge & inter-facility transfers

Stretcher

For patients who cannot sit upright. Stretcher-van trips run with two trained attendants; when a patient needs care or monitoring en route, licensed ambulance partners take the trip.

  • Two attendants, PASS & CPR trained
  • Bed-to-bed transfers
  • Ambulance partners when care is needed
For facilities

Discharge on time, every time

One dashboard for every trip leaving your building — scheduled, standing-order, or will-call — with proof of every handoff and one monthly bill.

  • Discharge & will-call tripsBook when the patient is ready; the trip broadcasts instantly to qualified operators nearby.
  • Standing ordersDialysis three times a week, daily wound care — set the pattern once and trips generate themselves.
  • Live trip dashboardEvery trip’s status — broadcast, accepted, en route, completed — plus running spend, in one view.
  • EVV documentation on every tripGPS trace, timestamps, and electronic signature — an audit-ready record for every ride.
  • Net-30 invoicingOne monthly invoice, on net-30 terms once your account clears onboarding. Operators are paid on completion, so your facility never carries their credit risk.

For families

Getting a parent to dialysis or home from the hospital shouldn’t take six phone calls. Book in minutes, see the price up front, and follow the ride live.

  • Upfront price, before you bookThe quote you see is the price you pay — calculated from the operator’s published rates.
  • Verified drivers, every tripBackground check, drug screen, driving record, and CPR/First Aid — verified before the first trip and re-checked on an ongoing basis.
  • Follow the ride liveSee when the driver is on the way, when your loved one is picked up, and when they arrive — with a signature confirming the handoff.
  • Book in your languageEnglish, Spanish, Arabic, Amharic, Korean and Chinese from day one. Book for a family member in the language your household speaks.

FAQ

Questions, answered

When does NextLek launch?
We’re in pre-launch now — onboarding founding facilities and operators in the DMV ahead of the first live trips. Join the waitlist and we’ll notify you as soon as booking opens in your county.
Where will the service operate?
First in the DMV — Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia — starting with the counties where waitlist demand and operator coverage are strongest. Additional regions follow after the DMV launch.
Is this an ambulance service?
No. NextLek is non-emergency medical transportation. Stretcher trips run in stretcher-vans with two trained attendants when the patient needs no care en route; when a patient does need care or monitoring during transport, the trip goes to a licensed ambulance partner. For emergencies, always call 911.
How is pricing set?
Each operator sets their own price book — base rate, per-mile rate, minimums, and extras — and your quote is calculated from those published rates before you book. Operators keep 100% of their price; the platform fee is charged on the buyer’s side. Facilities get one monthly invoice, on net-30 terms once the account clears onboarding; families see the full price up front.
How are drivers vetted?
Every driver and attendant passes a background check, drug screening, and driving-record (MVR) review, holds current CPR/First Aid and PASS training, and is screened against the OIG and SAM exclusion lists. Credentials, insurance, and exclusion status are re-verified on an ongoing basis — an expired credential removes a driver from trip eligibility automatically.
Is patient information protected?
Yes — the platform is HIPAA-conscious by design. Only the minimum patient information a trip requires is collected, it’s encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted under a signed Business Associate Agreement, and drivers’ access to trip details ends when the trip completes. Every trip is documented with GPS, timestamps, and an electronic signature.
